The project is the renovation of a dressing room, part of a Master Suite with views of Central Park. The focus of the design is the transformation of six pairs of closet doors. The location of the hinges had to be kept in order to work with the existing cabinet box. We saw the opportunity for transformation at the juncture where the doors come together when opening and closing, where pulls are usually located. The design conceals and integrates custom finger pulls with stainless steel panels and resin windows. The result is a hardware sculpture that the owner can interact with and use it. The activity of getting dressed is enhanced by the interaction with the sculptural doors and the inherent beauty of the materials. We used lighting to add more interest. Grazing lights on the top were used to accentuate the three dimensional quality of the doors. Light, coming from the interior of the cabinet, filters thru the resin panels adding a mysterious glow to the doors.
